How much should I "pay" an amateur photographer for taking wedding pics?
He is just an acquaintance and a teenager and last minute has said he can take pics for my wedding which is a life-saver because I couldn’t afford a pro. So don’t tell me I need a pro, because I want an amateur. However, I think it would be nice to give him some money even though he didn’t ask for any. How much $ should I give him?
By the way, I myself only make like /hour.

I was/am in the same sort of situation. I work with a few women who take amazing photos and decided to ask them if they would be willing to do it for me and if so how much they would want to be paid. The lady who is going to do it showed me some of her pictures, her camera, explained to me what she can and can’t do then we talked together about how much she should get out of it. In the end, she said she would do it for $100- that includes her gas/travel, the memory card that she is going to buy (and will give to me after) and the time she will spend taking pictures. I personally thought that was an amazing deal and I’m honestly not sure I would pay much more than that for pictures that aren’t professional and that have no guarantee of coming out decently or a refund policy.
That being said, I think you should discuss it with him and see what he says, but I’d probably go with a price range of one to two hundred dollars depending on time, quality and so on.
